In the area where two parts of the landing gear are joined by a bungee cord, there's a rivet used to hold a interior fitting sleeve. Why not just weld it instead of using a rivet? Thanks!

Thank you Rich. I was just curious and didn't know if maybe it's a typographical error. I ordered a sheet of .032 which I'll use at the wheel; piece of cake there. I'm not sure about the other end where I have to fit the lug against the bolt heads. I'll see how it looks.

Used a laser and bolts on the other side to guide me through. Didn't work. I'll have to cut the barrels off and I may be able to re-weld them into the correct orientation.

Per plans, I drilled 1/4" holes through the barrel hinges for the landing gear (split gear), then welded it all. Everything was fine. I then drilled those holes (on aircraft right) to 5/16", per plans, but the alignment was lost. I had to make six new barrels on that side and re-weld to the fittings ...

From the many photos I've seen, it appears the prevailing method is to cut away the bottom of the V and fit the axle there.

I'm trying to find the right part to connect the elevator cables to the elevator bellcrank. All I can find is AN115 cable shackles. They don't seem large enough to have two cables connected.

Thanks. Was wondering about the varnish to use on the belly. Out of sight areas with no fabric involved I'll probably use Helmsman Spar varnish. For sections exposed to elements (sun), visible and in contact with fabric, will use Stewart Systems EkoSeal.
