I have a question about attaching the wing fittings (eg. the lift strutfittings, cabane fittings) to the spars. Has anyone/everyone put 1/16" plyunder the fittings to "beef up" the spruce and help keep it from beingcrushed when the bolts are tightend? It would seem prudent, but I can't seewhere it is called for on the plans. Thanks, Ted BrousseauNaples, FL (where it's starting to feel like LA in the summertime)________________________________________________________________________________

I'm doing it, it's just good practice. If you do, you need to make thestrut fittings 1/8" wider than called for in the plans. Actually, theFlying & Glider plans show 1/16" ply on both sides of the fitting, not underit.----- Original Message -----

Thanks for the good explaination Corky.Gene,I am glad to see I was reading the plans correctly. It didn't make senseand that is why I asked. I am getting ready to weld the strut fittings andnaturally wanted them to be the right size. 1/8" wider they will be.Thanks, Ted----- Original Message -----
