Just a note to those that may be interested,There's a new forum for "Homebuilts/Kitplanes" located at The HobbyForum site. It's new and traffic is low, but maybe you might wish tostop by sometime and see if any topics pick your interest.... Itlocated here:http://www.thehobbyforum.com/forum/foru ... umid=170On another note....... Whats the general concensus on Latex vs. Polytonefinish on Poly Fiber. I visited a friend today who just finishedpainting his Aeronca Champ wings with Poly-Tone and the finish is ofcourse beautiful. However, it is also very expensive. He said he usedabout 6 gallons just on the wings.I've been hearing about the latex method and I think at one point therewas some discussion about it but I never really rememeber there beingstrong opinion against it. I'd sure like to save an easy $1800 in paintand latex sounds good, but not at the expense of safety.DJThis email has been scanned for known viruses and made safe for viewing by Half Price Hosting, a leading email and web hosting provider. I agree with Carl. I brushed on the first two coats of latex and wetsanded, then rolled on coats wet sanding between each coat now I'll bespraying on the last. I will flip the wing over and use the sprayer on thetop side. Using Sherwin Williams best.Dick----- Original Message -----

DJ,,, In the for what its worth dept.. Guys on here have had their latexpaint jobs for over 10 years and still going strong. Check out the archives.I have brushed, rolled and now sprayed the latex on mine and I wish I hadsprayed from the beginning.I have been using sher-will paint and I feel the brushing of the first coatand spraying the rest is the best technique for me.Carl L. building longer than he thought he would be ;)----- Original Message -----

Gary, I used the flat gray for my primer as a uv protectant. It went ongreat. Then I used the gloss for my final color ( cub yellow) and had a real hardtimewith it. I ended up using satin and it looks a lot like the old dope finish.I believe the only way you can get muslin to shrink is with dope. You might want to consider the uncertified dacron. AS&S has it realreasonable.Carl L.----- Original Message -----

Try water shrinking it first--like we did with model planes. Cotton shouldshrink just fine!Gene-----Original Message-----
