Cy and Dick,The standard was adopted by Army-Navy on November 1, 1924. Numbering wasdifferent: AN44 through AN50: R- right hand thread, L- left hand thread, S-short Barrel, L- long barrel, 44- cable eye, 45- fork, 46- pin eye, 47-barrel, 48- turnbuckle ass'y with two cable eyes, 49-turnbuckle ass'y withcable eye and fork, 50- turnbuckle ass'y with cable eye and pin eye. ThusAN-44-46LL is a Army-Navy standard long cable eye with a LH thread for acable strength of 4600 lbs.Indeed a .216 major diameter and a number 12. If there is a number 2 and anumber 4 and a number 6 and number 8 and a number 10, then why not a number12?I also looked up the TPI and it is -28 not -24 per June 1928 Journal of theSAE, Vol XXII, No. 6 page 707.chris bobka-----Original Message-----
