Subject: Pietenpol-List: Handheld and headsetPieters,Am shopping today for a handheld and headset. Anyone in the know on buying these? Maybe someone has an old or extra one they would like to convert into some quick CASH. Sure would appreciate some advise on what to buy and more important what to avoid. Thank youCorky in La________________________________________________________________________________Date: Tue, 1 Oct 2002 09:30:52 -0500

Corky,May I add my congrats? I know what you have gone through and how proud (andtired) you must feel. I just hope you hang on long enough to be able to flyit. You must have faith that common sense will prevail some day soon.I use both a KX-99 and Icom and they work well. You can get the one with abuilt in VOR or without. I have both and never use the VOR. Depends onyour needs. Headsets are another thing. You need one that you can hearwith AND talk. There is a lot of noise up there and some mikes are betterthan others.I would think a helicopter headset would be good for an open cockpit. But,I have never tried one. Maybe someone else can give us some guidance on theright headset for these birds. I am in the market for the right one.Ted BrousseauSee ya at Brodhead next summer----- Original Message -----
