Thanks Kip,Yea, the guy I'm buying my engine from, rebuilds Corvairs for local clubmembers, mainly into the Spyders, that's why he had the 110hp engines in hisshop, he replaced them with the 180hp versions. He had 3 engines to choosefrom, the other 2 looked pretty ratty. Did you do any mods to your fuse?Does the electric start weight include the generator? What is your max fuelload going to be. With the increased fuel burn of the vair, it will cutdown on time in the air. I would be interested in see your solution to thecowl issue. And yes you're right, D.J. said it this morning as well, thishome built thing is just too much fun.....Ken-----Original Message-----

Thanks Kip,I think I know the Piet you are talking about, is it G-BZRY, if so the cowlis the way I was think of going, very clean lines. As for the fuel,12 up front and 6 - 10 on top is most likely the way I willgo. How much would the C.G. change if you put all the fuel in the centersection with no fuel up front? I also am going to extend the cabines, same amount. I hadn't considered adoor for the front cockpit, think I have enough to do right now, withoutadding another project to the list! Just finished rib #13, one more to go and I get to change the jig. Ibelieve this is my first milestone...Ken -----Original Message-----

A larger passenger should be no worry. The front seat is pretty damn closeto CG. I think the CG is right in the lap of the front passenger.----- Original Message -----

Kip, if you are going with the same design as G-BRZY, let me know. I willdefinately be interested in anything that you come up with. I will copy thepicture to my brother, he's millright and an AME, he's built 2, a GN1, AHatz and is currently restoring on an SV4C Stampe. I'm sure that he canhelp with baffling etc. I'll get back to you.Ken-----Original Message-----

Jack,No I didn't see/feel any difference. One strange thing though, w/o the cowlstraight and level I thought I got about 80/82 IAS. And with the cowl on Igot a solid 78/80. can't see how the cowl would slow me down, think itsomehow changed the static slightly to the airspeed ind. I put the statictube to a fitting behind the rear panel pointing down to sense into the rearcockpit. Or maybe in the excitement of the first 2 flights, I got it wrong. Eitherway when I get my GPS going, I can see the facts.walt----- Original Message -----

You must build the wings complete as "aileronless " wings, then put in theaileron spars and cut out and remove them.only different ribs are the 6 ribs that are at the "end " of a wing. 2 atroot of wings,2 at tip before bow, and outboard of center section ( if youare making 3 pc wing) These have more pieces in them so they won't collapseunder the pressure of the fabric pull.walt----- Original Message -----

Really? I'm no expert, but on both my projects ( from different plans) andit makes sense, to build the whole wing complete, wing tip bow and all,,thencut out the aileron. Kind of makes sense, no warpage, fits exactly. Don'tthink there's a down side.Isn't the GN-1 the one that used the J-3 wing? do they also have their ownwing design? Not being a wise guy, just don't know. Just finished a Pietenpol, and only know a little about the GN-1 from thisgroup.walt----- Original Message -----
