I did not get any response concerning the cross bracing wires on the side ofthe cockpit. When I reviewed my e-mail I noticed that I used the wrongterms on it. What I need to know is does the GN-1 use the wire cross braceslocated between the right hand center section struts on the front and rearof the front cockpit? I have reviewed my plans and do not see themindicated on them. I have seen them on "B.H." Piet's but, have not seenother GN-1's to see if they use them. I hope that somebody can shed somelight on this. Thanks,Jon BotsfordLooking at the snow/sleet, not green grass! I now empathize with the upnorth folks.________________________________________________________________________________

I for one omitted these cross wires as the front cabane struts, right andleft are braced by diagonals to the top longerons next to the firewall.DickG. (GN-1)----- Original Message -----

Jon,From what I understand about Piets, is that the earlier piets had the crossbracing on the right to stop the wing from fwd/ back movement during flight. And the newer plans added the angled "struts" from the fwd top of the wingsat the cabane struts, down to the top engine mounts. These served the samepurpose, and did not restrict the entry/egress of the front cockpit. Onmine , built over the last four years , and finally licenced last fall, ANDwith only 3 1/2 hours on it, I opted for the diagonal bracing. Also ittakes awile to decide which fuse to build, and why. I did the long fusewith an extented engine mount , by about 1 3/4" , to counter balance my fata**. ( with an A-65)I can send you pics direct or you can go here.http://photos.yahoo.com/joepietwalt evansNX140DL----- Original Message -----

Walt,Much thanks for the information. I looked at your pictures. VERYIMPRESSIVE. I know how frustrated you are to get it in the air again. I amdoing some engine work (Franklin 65) and modifying the front seat for myhoney. also installing new seatbelts and shoulder harness for the frontseat. I have followed your inputs on the Piet list-serv and always foundthem to be interesting. again thanks,Jon BotsfordHewitt, Texas (Near Wacky Waco)----- Original Message -----
