Subject: Pietenpol-List: Another fuselage width questionI have searched the archives for anything concerning widening the Piet fuselage to get a wider rear cockpit. Most people widen the entire fuselage (to26 -28 inches) to get the rear seatback width to 23 or 24 outside width. My question is wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper to not change the front of the fuselage at all, make the rear searback width 24 instead of 22" and bend the longerons a little more back to the tail? Even if the firewall width is 26", and the rear seat 24", the longerons still need to be bent back to 1 1/8"at the tail.Sorry if this is a stupid question.Rick Holland________________________________________________________________________________

John,I am working on the fuselage for the "Improved Air Camper" and comparedmeasurements with the "Original" And found the 9+" to be distributedsomewhat evenly throughout length of the fuselage. Check the drawings ofboth versions and plan accordingly.Good luck.Jim Sheen----- Original Message -----
