Subject: RE: Pietenpol-List: installing barrel in strutTed,I slotted my lower strut ends to accept the 'ears' of the weldable threaded barrels that I purchased from Wicks or ACS.I found that the threads had to be chased with a tap after welding as the fork end didn't screw in easily until that was accomplished.Mike C.________________________________________________________________________________

Hi Ted,I did mine a little different from Mike. I used rod end bearings on the topend of my lift struts, and I made the strut fittings. I used a heavy walledtube of 4130, slotted it and welded in a piece of 1/8" 4130 sheet, thendrilled and tapped it to fit the threads on the rod end. I then slotted thelift strut and welded the fitting in place. See attached picture.Jack PhillipsNX899JPRaleigh, NC _____
