Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not to the aviation field. I recently obtaineda piet and it has the 'split axle' landing gear. The builder put spruce strips(similar to the turtleneck) on the underside of the fuselage...and it causedsome interference problems with the bungee cords. I noticed that the struts(with the bungees on them, could actually be flipped around, so that the bungee'sare near the wheels. has anyone had a problem with this? and flipped thebungee struts around???? thanks, jamesRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2011 17:30:39 -0800 (PST)

Well it doesn't look like you have got any responses so maybe I'll give it a shot.ifyou are talking about the cub style gear maybe you could consider replacingthe bungees with springs.several have done that and I think it would giveyou more clearance.there has been discussion of it in the past and no doubt thereare some good references in the archives though I never got to where I couldfind stuff that way.where are you located? welcome anyway.RaymondRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Jerry, I was just voicing the frustration. I was referring to the fittingsthat attach the vertical and horizontal stabilizers to the fuselage, bothfront and rear. If you scroll down from herehttp://textors.com/PietProject.html you can see pictures under tail group.Even after thinking through the process, figuring for fabric thickness etc,I still messed up. It won't be the last time I'm sure. In this picturehttp://textors.com/DSCN4181.JPG you can see the top two rear fittings, whichif used wouldn't allow enough room for the nuts that secure the bottom twofittings. They will be too close to the fuselage side. So I plugged thestab, re-drilled then re-made the top fittings moving the bolts out. Prettymuch had to do the same to the front fittings. Oh well.JackDSM _____
