Just as important as the drill bit size is the point angle. The #10 type drillbits (I used a lot on my RV-10), I believe have a sharper bit angle for metalthen standard bits (wood or general purpose). I think as a general rule the harderthe material the steeper the angle, something like 70 for wood, 90 aluminum,135 for SS (these are guesses, I'm not at my shop). But as mentioned before, yes the number (#10) bits have a slightly closer tolerance for rivets etc.Steve--------Stevewww.mypiet.comRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: C85-8F

I hope I don't offend anyone on the list because I haven't had the pleasure ofmeeting any of you (other than Axel), but I was able to aquire a non-automobileengine for my Piet. I'm looking forward to it's rebuild and hope and pray therearen't too many surprises. Most excellent Curt. In 3 more days I can tell you just how smart a movethat was, compared to trying to make an automobile engine do something itwas never designed to do.Jack PhillipsNX899JP "Icarus Plummet"Raleigh, NC-----Original Message-----

Great, Curt. Always good to see a new Pietenpol with something besidesChevrolet's inadequate answer to the Volkswagon on its nose.I had a C85-8F on my Cessna 140 several years ago and liked everything aboutit but the generator. It was criminal to lug around a piece of equipment ofthat weight that put out so few amps.Jack PhillipsNX899JP "Icarus Plummet"Raleigh, NC-----Original Message-----
