Thanks Jack... The tape is nothing special - just blue 3M "low tack" painter's tape. I keep itabout 4 inches away from any joint that will be welded and it works great tohold parts in place. Disclaimer: ALL the welding that Mike (Ready Weld) does is TIG. I suspect thetape would not work well holding parts in place for GAS welding - too large ofa heat affected zone.Just as an aside, most of my focus over the past month has be re-fabricating theinstrument panel and attach points/mounts - so the panel will "float" on rubberisolators instead of mount rigidly to the steel-tube structure. It's beena fairly long (and somewhat depressing at times) process to re-do what I alreadyhad finished but the instruments should be a LOT happier with less vibration.......--------Jake Schultz - curator,Newport Way Air Museum (OK, it's just my home)Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2012 16:18:34 -0500Subject: Pietenpol-List: Turbo Subaru

I use a pair of Vise Grips with a groove ground in each jaw, parallel to thelong axis of the pliers, so you can fit each of the tangs of the hog clampsin a groove and squeeze without them slipping out of the jaws.Continental probably sells a special tool for the purpose but this is cheapand works well.Jack PhillipsNX899JPSmith Mountain Lake, Virginia-----Original Message-----

Evening all,I had the opportunity to spend a few days at OSH this year, so I hit theAeromart looking for carbs suitable for Corvair use. I found an appropriateStromberg with the mixture pieces tied to it (if one was so inclined). Iwent ahead and snatched it up, figuring that some Corvaircrafter (or small Continental user) out theremight need one. I popped the top, it is intact, with no visible bowlcorrosion from ethanol use. I paid $250 for it, I am asking $250 for it,and you pay for shipping. Let me know, thanks...http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2314248/strombe ... pgRyanRyan Muellerrmueller23(at)gmail.com________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Stromberg for sale

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Re: Stromberg for saleBill,Saw that actually. Dan Y woke the girls up early and had them whip alittle drawing to let me know, then had Ugela efax that over beforeshe could even have her first cup of joe. I would reply to Dan inconfirmation, but he's probably balled up in the fetal position now, whimpering softly. As such, I'm going to stop at a Western Union andsend Gary B a telegram, to see if he can forward the message to SafetyDan, and have climb to the highest spot in the land down there in TNto relay it via semaphore....with the bright yellow shirt he should beeasy enough to spot....well, in the surrounding 38 states and Canadaat least. Thanks for the heads up,RyanSent from my iPhoneOn Aug 17, 2012, at 5:07 AM, Bill Church wrote:>> Ryan,>> John sent you a public message saying that he sent you a private message.>> :)>> BC>>> Read this topic online here:>> http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Larry,I for one am sad to see you take leave from the list. Who is going to keep us in line? Egads are we expected to self-police?Have fun sir. We are with you in spirit and I suspect would all like to be doing the same thing. See you next year at Brodhead with the Skyscout.Dan HelsperPuryear, TN-----Original Message-----
