Intro and 3D CAD model parts

Post by Sanket »

Hi all,

My name is Sanket, I recently joined the Broadhead Piet group as a new member. My urge to finally start building a plane of my own has now finally started, as I ordered kits and plans from AR. For a while I have been debating between the Air Camper and Fly Baby but I think after lot of research work and more so of personal preference, I leaned towards Air Camper more. For the past month, I have been going through the drawings, videos, builder blogs and trying understand to grasp the scale of the project. I must say, reading the drawings by just sitting on my sofa has made me understand much more on this design.

I thought with my limited CAD knowledge, why not to convert some metal parts into 3D CAD model for CNC cutting. I know the CNC cutting/water jet cutting thing has been discussed many times in this forum before. Thanks to Pat Weeden for uploading the DXF files in one of the threads, I was able to recreate 3D CAD models out of them. Let me know if anyone needs them and I am happy to share it here.

Looking at the plans, it seems there are lot more sheet metal parts required than the one initially posted on the thread. So far, to my knowledge, only one company from Tennessee (https://www.icarusair.net/parts) provides parts for sale but they do not include wing and controls fittings.

Does anyone know if someone has those files made available in the forum? If not, I would be more than willing to put that in CAD and share.

Thanks!

Sanket :)
