I wouldn't think it would make much difference, as long as they match each other.
When I get to the wing of N34KP's rebuild I will changing it to a 3 piece wing, due to damage caused when the a/c was turned back over onto its gear. I'll be cutting 40 inches out of the center, repairing the outboard panels and building a new center section. I plan to do whatever it takes to match the new center section to the outboard panels.
