I have never seen one but I have heard that the Continental GPU's had a castiron crankshaft.If the engine is assembled, there is probably no way to tell by visualinspection. There is no reason why a cast iron crank can't be used, its just not going tobe quite as strong as a forged steel one.Good luck,Bob Seibert________________________________________________________________________________

Thanks Bob, We have the case apart and everything mics out to within factory specs. Onequestion I do have is about the front bearing. And I have a few mechanics Ican ask about the cast crankshaft.Thanks againMike________________________________________________________________________________
