Hi List!! Thank you for all the info on building a fuel gauge. I'veprinted it all out, and will start on that project very soon.I read something quite interesting on this list yesterday, about engineperformance. Since I'm new to the Continental 65's, I'm wondering if thereis a "standard" list of checks to perform in order to see how efficient theengine is working for me. There was a mention of static running, and theprop not "unloading". I assume that the RPM's will be lower on the groundin a static run-up, and higher on takeoff. My wooden prop (manufacturerunknown) is a 44 x 72, does this seem like the correct prop for the Cont 65?Full RPM's seem to be around 2,400 or 2,500 on takeoff. Climb is less thanspectacular, probably 500 or so with one on board (this may be normal oracceptable?).I know that in the ultralights I fly, I can check the mixture by looking atthe plugs after running the engine for a while. Maybe this works on thisengine also? I really don't know the first thing about how to set the carb, etc. It may be set just fine right now for all I know. The oil temp andpressure stay in the green.Appreciate all you people are doing for me!!!Robert Hensarlinghttp://www.mesquite-furniture.comrhrocker(at)admin.hilconet.comUvalde, Texas________________________________________________________________________________

x-mac-creator="4D4F5353"Robert,I am only getting about 2250 rpm out of a C-65 with a 73-42 prop incruise. My climb is about the same, maybe a little better. How much doesyour Piet weigh? I think the different manufactures of props performdifferently. I had mine cut back to 42 to get some more rpm.Craig________________________________________________________________________________
