Is there any information on wooden lift struts available?. Also lookingat the plans, I dont see any info on the diagonal streamlined tubes thatconnect the upper engine mount fittings to the top of the fwd centerstruts. Could someone tell me if this is shown on any of the drawings.GaryFrgtdog(at)worldnet.att.net________________________________________________________________________________

Make a temporary set out of scrap to clamp things in place while you'rebuilding, then make your permanent set after doing your wt./balcalculations. OR...make an adjustable set with threaded fork-ends so youcan fine-tune them as necessary.Larry________________________________________________________________________________

Not that I know of. These struts were thought of by someone to replacethe fore and aft cross wires between the cabane struts to allow easierentry into the front cockpit. We plan on installing those wires for testflying until we get the trim right by moving the wing back and forth. Then make and install the diagonal strut.John Langston writes:>Is there any information on wooden lift struts available?. Grant's web site has a notation about wooden lift struts, including adrawing of the cross section. It uses a plywood center section, laminated onboth sides and on each end with spruce, and is then shaped. It would seemthat a router table could make this an easy piece of work.Cheers,Warren.________________________________________________________________________________

Subject: Pietenpol-List: lift strutsThanks for the input on the struts.I guess I will take a look at sun-n-fun and if I cant find any there I'll go with the aluminum,I like the system D.J used, also cheaper if the size 4130 I was looking at is correct- $19.70 per foot. Thanks again, Robert________________________________________________________________________________Date: Sat, 11 Feb 2006 20:32:58 -0800 (PST)
