Hi All,Mike Bell got a hold of me and I am getting another set of PietenpolNewsletters. That leads me to item:1. Awhile back I volunteered to digitize these old newsletters and publishthem on a CD for non-profit use. I have been unable to do this because ofno newsletters. Now that I am getting a set, that project will be started inthe near future. I will be scanning, and converting to searchable PDF formatand probably redrawing illustrations so they can be printed and scaled withnew fangled programs of the day. This will be a labor of love, lust, passion - what have you. Besides, I am a pathetic, lonely, divorced guy witha bit of time on my hands about to endure another Wisconsin winter. If youhave something to add or something you would like to see let me knowincluding video clips, soundbytes, builder photos, etc. We can make this agroup effort and something with which to really have fun.2. I like airplane shirts and s&t like that. Over the last few years I havenoticed most shirts, hats and the like seemed to have been designed bypeople stuck about 1972, with a doobie in their mouth and a blindfold overtheir eyes. I walked the Oshkosh grounds looking for acceptable items ofclothing. Two years in a row have netted me nada, zip and zero. Mesh hats!?,Tie Died shirts?! If I see on more shirt with a P51 shooting flames out ofits wings I think I may puke. In my opinion good aviation clothing should besubtle and now shout I AM A GEEK WEIRDO.The Oshkosh weather was cool a couple of mornings and I was wearing asweatshirt I had picked up several years ago. I had four or five women askme where I got it. It is a subtle Curtiss art deco ad which many have seenon the from of a white sweatshirt. This got me thinking. The only way I wasgoing to get the items I want to wear is to create them myself. There aremany logos from the past that are really well done and nice conversationpieces. So I have partnered with a company to produce the aviation logos Iam redrawing on shirts, hats, sweatshirts, coffee mugs and certainpromotional items. So far I am concentrating on airplanes which are mypassion: Taylorcraft, Travel Air (I have a project of each of those), Lairdand next is Pietenpol. I can reproduce one already made or draw one fromscratch. I will try to have it done in time for Christmas so your family cantreat you right. I will be making a very small amount of money on each itemsold but it will go for a worthy cause - aviation and building a Pietenpol.A lot more logos will follow and if there is interest I will post a link inthe near future. If this is unwanted let me know and no more will be writtenabout the subject. The items will be high-quality heat transferred,printed-on-demand, so they will be available at all time and I am toldsatisfaction is guaranteed.I am windy and let me know how you feel about this kind of stuff. Sorry totake up too much time
-john-Thinking about a tag line like...Pietenpol AircamperSmell the Grass, Chase the Cows. The beauty is I can change the logo any time I want and it updates theshirts available instantly, so we can have a whole variety of stuff to wearand create.________________________________________________________________________________
