When I decided to put a doorin my plane which is an original wooden fuselage, I used this generallayout to move the loads arount the door.If I might make an editorial comment here, normally you would be betteroff to follow the original plans and not change them at all unless thereis a real need to do so. In my case, I wanted to allow for easy accessto the front cockpit for my wife as we are both in our 70s and she has aknee problem. However, you should realize that the torsional rigidityof the fuselage is compromised slightly, and weight and complexity areadded. I have two doors in my GN-1. I can't imagine getting people in and out of aPiet without a passenger door. I am building a Piet and you can bet it willhave a door. I can tell you that in my early days of learning to land theplane I pushed it to its limit on stesses.
