It wouldn't be aproblem to cut long wedge strips if I had the wood on hand to do it.Ibought a wood kit from Gene Peters where all of the pieces are cut andmilled pretty close to exact demension with only small pieces left overafter cutting to proper length. they are short enough to be worrysome(fingers!) when cutting on a table saw. The spars came 'flat top' sobeveling is out of the question any way. I guess I'l have to order oneof those spruce grab bags. Thanks for the tips. Leon S. In his case, yes it wouldadd the needed strength. And its the only way he had to fit the rib capsto the spar top.I, like most of us have put a vertical 'stick' at thespar opening. By gluing the vertical to the face of the spar I wouldthink you would have all the strength needed without the wedges. I'm noengineer, so I am going to use the wedges. The front left wedge fit tight but was loose in thefront right position, etc. This what got me thinking in the first placethat there had to be an easier way. It looks like every wedge would needto be custom made and custom fitted to a specific location. that couldtake weeks! ah well, Its all part of the game. I don't mind doing stuffas long as it don't end up in the dammit box. Thanks. It doesn't have to be any particular kind of wood . . . any wood will do.Just cut a two ro three foot length with a bevel on it and start slicing. Iwouldn't wait for a grab bag of spruce, I'd go to Home Depot and find anypiece of good looking spruce or fir.Gene----- Original Message -----
