Ken,I use a router, with a flat end bit.For the jig you need 3 pieces of wood, (1) 3/4 X 4 X 15, (2) 1/2 X 2 X 15.Now attach the 2 smaller pieces to the sides of the 3/4 X 4 piece in such away that the top edge of the sides form a 12/1 slope. The router rides up and down this slope while the 1 X 1 is secured to thesurface of the 3/4 X 4.I like to draw a 12/1 line on the side of the work and cut close to the linewith the band saw, before routing, this saves time, router bits and sawdustcleanup.Do the above to two pieces of wood, glue them together and you will have aperfect scarf joint.I hope I was able to explain the jig well enough.Skip-----Original Message-----

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Built up SparKen,I cut mine on the table saw by staggering the pieces and feeding them thru the saw at the staggered angle with the saw blade slightly below the thickness of the wood for containment. This method works very well for me, and I scarf alot of wood. Doug Bryant________________________________________________________________________________
