it's pretty tight down by the bottom end of my firewall. I'm trying to getthe gascolator as low as possible...... I know that typically you aresupposed to put it as low as possible without it protruding from beneath thefirewall.The optimum location for mine puts the bottom edge of the gascolator about1" below the firewall. How strict is the rule of keeping it above thebottom firewall line? I could move it higher but not by much.I knwo the reasoning is that if the landing gear ripped out it could alsorip off the gascolator... Not sure about the best building practices, but I figured where the bottomcowl came to and put the drain about flush with it. Made the cowl hole justbig enough to fit my "push finger" in and drain some fuel. Also the cleardrain cup will fit in as well.Just keep in mind that to make it lower does not supply more fuel to thecarb It's the height of fuel in the tank that determines that.(Just as long as the fuel line always travels level or downward between thetank and the gascollater.
