Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: OT - help with aircraft identificationI unloaded a C-170 2 yrs. ago and I am surprised at how much I haveforgotten about them. I believe a straight 170 had a fabric wing. C-145engine. They are the fastest model. The 170A was all metal with small (140 style flaps ) and had a cooling box over the engine inside thecowling. The 170 B has big flaps full pressure cowling. Later 170 Bs hadmore dihedral in the wings, more squared rear D window. The 56 170s wasthe start of lots of plastic in the interior.. A's and B's had the 0-300engine. I have no idea what the diference is between the 2 engines. LeonS.________________________________________________________________________________
