Walt; that is a great idea! I just pulled the cowl on my airplane yesterday andwas wondering about a way to secure the hinge pins. Although they have neverworked loose, my A&P asked me about securing them when he did the last annual.Mine simply have legs bent on the ends (L-shaped) but that little lockinghook is nifty. If you don't mind, I'm going to snag the photo and put it on mywebsite for others to pick up.I put another 1.6 hours on 41CC yesterday in high and gusty winds, but it was greatfun and landing on the grass at bicycle speed into the stiff wind was a pieceof cake.I've sort of started to feel bad about the looks of the airplane. It's no hangarqueen... not very clean, a bit of oil smudge here and there on the belly, fueldye stains on the passenger floorboards, unused holes here and there, andthe spray-can color of blue paint that I used on the rebuilt gear legs and cabanesdoesn't quite match the PolyTone that Corky used on the rest of the airplane. However, the airplane flies great, gives me no trouble, and it smells likea real airplane everytime I climb into the cockpit. No apologies once theairplane leaves the ground, but I feel bad that I haven't kept it looking likeit did when Corky first finished and flew it.Oscar ZunigaAir Camper NX41CCSan Antonio, TXmailto: taildrags(at)hotmail.comwebsite at http://www.flysquirrel.net________________________________________________________________________________

It's actually a Lambert. Which I believe is the same basic engine as the Velie. The Velie became the Lambert after an ownership change, I think. Mr. Pietenpolbuilt an Air Camper with a Velie. I should have taken more pictures of it.It is a beauty!Don E.Read this topic online here:

Wow Don, that really looks sharp. Nice picture. Do you have more?Sky Gypsy was always a great looking Pietenpol, but this transformation is somethingelse. Do you know if Frank has flown it yet? It would be great if he couldfly it to Brodhead.Bill C.Read this topic online here:
