Jorge; I think the throttle that is shown in theplans is about as simple as you can get. One thingthat would be an improvement is to link the frontand rear throttle levers with a rod or tube, thencarry a Bowden cable forward to the carb from thefront throttle. I've seen pictures of that setupon more than one Piet but I don't remember whoseairplane had it. The last ones I saw were of areally nice, clean, simple cockpit with beautifullyvarnished plywood cockpit; I'm no wood expert butit looked like birch ply (blonde color), dark hardwoodknobs on the throttles.41CC has the pilot's throttle up near the cockpitcoaming with the pivot at the bottom; upside-downfrom what the plans show. I like that setup sinceit gives more room down in the cockpit but when theweather is cold, it puts your hand almost out inthe wind. I can post a photo of the throttle if youare interested. And the front throttle is just aknob attached to the inner wire of the Bowden cablewith bug nuts to secure it.PS: "Cold", as defined in Texas, is anythingbelow about 80F.Oscar ZunigaAir Camper NX41CCSan Antonio, TXmailto: taildrags(at)hotmail.comwebsite at http://www.flysquirrel.net ________________________________________________________________________________Date: Sun, 4 Oct 2009 11:07:22 -0500 (GMT-05:00)

Before covering, the plywood does seem a little strange in that it is unsupportedwithout the filler strips on there. After covering though, you can see whyit is done that way. You get a really nice transition from plywood leading edgeto open area. I'm currently covering Aeronca Chief wings. They have aluminumleading edges. There are no filler strips between the ribs on that leadingedge either. There are flanges though, bent into the aluminum though thatare intended to stiffen that back edge. Those flanges do stiffen it enough tocreate somewhat of a sharp transition. I understand the idea of maintainingthe airfoil shape, which is what the intention is for the Aeronca, but I thinkthat does not need to be the intention for the Piet. I did mine like the plans show. It seems to be at about the right height for meto use my thigh as an arm rest. The rod is just a 1/4" steel rod that is threadedat each end with a 1/4-28 die. There is no lever in the front cockpit,it just connects to a Bowden cable. When a front passenger is flying they justgrab onto the rod and control the throttle that way. I was concerned abouthaving a lever up there that could get caught on a passenger's clothing, jacketor arm and could limit my use of it. It could happen and they might not evenknow they are hung up on it. I'm very leary of having stuff up front thatcan be disturbed by unknowing passengers. Here is a shot of the throttle...http://westcoastpiet.com/images/Don%20E ... JPGAnother shot at the front where it connects to the bowden cable.http://westcoastpiet.com/images/Don%20E ... 0_096.JPGI had a little clearance issue so I had to file a little bit of the gusset away, which can be seen in that second shot. I need to go back in there and cleanthat up and get a little varnish on there.Don EmchNX899DERead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________
