Does anyone have recommendations regarding how toremove contact cement from painted surfaces? Forexample, if a gasket or trim comes off of an autoand needs to be reattached but there is contactcement residue (the typical yellow cement), is theresomething that will release the old cement withoutharming the paint? Most cement cans, like the Weldwood that I have, says to use mineral spirits for cleanup but beforeI try it I thought I'd ask. The paint is enamel.Thanks.Oscar ZunigaAir Camper NX41CCSan Antonio, TXmailto: taildrags(at)hotmail.comwebsite at http://www.flysquirrel.net ________________________________________________________________________________

I have had good luck with Goof Off from the hardware store. Also, VM&P Naptha works well.Dick N.----- Original Message -----

Oscar=2CDepends on the paint. If it's and OEM finnish on a car or truck built w/in the last 20yrs then laquer thinner is fine. For any other paint I wouldn't go any harsher than a cleaner/degreaser sold at any automotive paint shop=2C but I'm not sure that it will cut contact cement. Doug DeverIn beautiful Stow Ohio
