I got home all fired up to get back on my Piet build too, only to realize thatmy garage needs a very thorough cleaning and re-organizing before I can do anything.Seems that in the year since I've last worked on it, I have totally clutteredup my workspace with much extraneous stuff. I can't even see the topof my table saw. :( And since I'm leaving Friday for two weeks, I don't thinkthat the garage will get cleaned until I return. I did study my blueprints tonightand did a quick inventory of wood on hand though. I guess that's betterthan not doing anything... And now I am about to watch Dan Helsper's excellentprop carving CD presentation again while the wife works on her nursing homework.--------Billy McCaskillUrbana, ILtailfeathers almost doneRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2010 22:36:14 -0500Subject: Pietenpol-List: Dan's Prop

To the whole door, weight, climb, load discussion. My GN-1 Piet has the door. Itweighs 705 empty and with a Sensenich 72X42 prop on my A-65 I was getting 250fpm climb with a combined 410 lbs of pilot/passenger. About 430 lbs of loadis the most I've carried without feeling really marginal. With my current propthough my cruise suffers. Coming back with Randy Bush I was making about 68 at2250. I normally cruise 65 at about 2100.--------Dale McCleskeyRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ______Date: Thu, 29 Jul 2010 08:04:56 -0400

To all considering Dan's CD, or carving their own prop,I saw Dan's prop last year at Brodhead '09 (sorry to have missed seeing hisplane this year), bought his CD and carved my prop last December. It took meabout 40 hours, but he lays it all out very nicely, even how to figurepitch! Admittedly, I have not run my engine yet, but if this prop fails Iwould not hesitate to carve another - it was very enjoyable. Mine is hickoryand is shaped similar to PF Beck's, for a CS Corvair:Prop mounted 2.jpgGary BootheCool, CAPietenpolWW Corvair ConversionTail done, Fuselage on gear20 ribs done
