Hello,I need some help from you; I need an engine for the Piet I am building. In the beginin I was thinking in a VW bla, bla, bla, but one day I found a websitenamed BARNSTORMERS and I find there a lot of engines like A65 at a very goodprices... but I don know how they are.My idea is buy one there in USA (I live in Uruguay) and bring it it here (as ansport airplane engine it do not pay taxes). But the problem is "see the engine"or at least a comment from a therth about the state of it.Supose I found an engine, can I ask you here for someone to see it if it is phisicaly(location) possible, to have some comments about? pros, conts, yes no...could it be? javascript:emoticon('[Wink]')Thank you, and best regards.MarioRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: I need some help please

Mario,I think the A-65 will be a much better choice than the VW. There are some greatA-65's out there BUT there is a lot of worn out/rusty junk out there too.Be patient and watch Barnstormer's. Maybe someone on the LIST here will know ofa good one. I think the guys on the list would be very trustworthy. A reallygreat bunch of people hang out here. Any of the small Continental engines wouldbe a good choice. A-75, C-85, C-90 & O-200(100) horsepower.--------Jerry Dotson59 Daniel Johnson RdBaker, FL 32531Started building NX510JD July, 2009wing, tailfeathers done, fuselage rollingusing Lycoming O-235Read this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

Mario,Good to hear from you! I'm sure many Piet builder/owners would help withthat. I'm not sure of how practical that would be. You would be trustingsomeone else's judgment as to the quality of the engine. You might consideran AP/IA mechanic to build you an engine. That way you can be sure you havea good engine. For a C65, C75 or C85 you can build one for less than aCorvair conversion. I've been very happy with my engine that Tom Wottrengbuilt for me. Pictures here... http://textors.com/PietProject.html Best to you!JackDSM-----Original Message-----
