First I want to thank all of you who posted a response I really appreciate yourthoughts. I'm staying with the original Pietenpol plans. The support for thisairplane is overwhelming and that's important to me. You guys are the greatest, thanks again. I'm sure I will post more questions as I move along. Ordering the spruce woodtoday from Aircraft Spruce. Oh, I do want to mention I attended Jack's presentation at Oshkosh and he helpedme out there too. Kudos to Jack. Tim,I have the exact same tool. It is very handy for bending small parts.I found the surface texture of the dies to be a bit rough, so I smoothed them andput a little bit of a radius on the male die (using a file). The actual radius achieved in bending depends more on the alloy and thickness ofthe material and the opening dimension of the female die than it does on theradius of the male die. That's just the nature of bending metal. Of course, ifthe metal being bent is soft, the radius becomes more important.Lee Valley sure makes some nice woodworking tools.Bill CRead this topic online here:

Remember the minimum inside radius, when bending 4130, is equal to its thickness.--------Read this topic online here:

Question for those that are using mechanical drum or band brakes. What diametercable are you using? 1/16" stranded cable and sheaths are readilly availablefrom bicycle shops, but is this to thin?Rick Schreiber________________________________________________________________________________Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: brake cables
