Not sure what this is, but it's NOT a typical A65-8. Listed as an A65-1.Note the exhaust ports coming out of the tops of the cylinder heads, and thespark plugs relatively far down the cylinder head, and going in at rightangles to the cylinder bore. Also, max RPM is listed as 2850, rather thanthe 2350 of an A65-8. Of course, with only a 54" diameter on the prop, 2850RPM might be possible, for a while. So there was only a coupleof months, i think, that the A65-1 was built. They then went to the "-3". The"-3" is the same as the "-8" only it has up exhaust. This one has been convertedinto the dual ignition "-3". Aeronca was the one that used this the most.The prewar Chiefs used them.
