Yesterday, the majority of the NoCal Squadron of West Coast Pieters met atJim Boyer's (Santa Rosa, Ca), to celebrate our favorite Irishman, BernardPietenpol! It is worth noting that, at least for this day of celebration, wewere able to put aside our differences on the best way to power a Pietenpolthrough the skies (although 4 of the 8 persons pictured are committed toCorvair!), instead totally focusing on Jim's project. Jim's garage, loadedwith all his tools, project, extra wood and 5 engines(!), is living proofthat it is possible to get 5 lbs of horse manure into a 1 lb sack! ArleneBoyer fed us a fine meal of corned beef and cabbage, too!Pictured, from Left to Right, back row: The estimable Chris Tracy, ScottDebel (tail complete, but side-tracked by getting his PPL), and, to the farright, Ray Krause (building a Sky Scout). In front: Host, Jim Boyer(Corvair), Bill Roach (recent attendee to CC#22 - working on engine), Yourstruly (Corvair), Kevin McDonald (just purchased and A-powered Piet), andMike Weaver (Corvair - soon to be deployed to Afghanistan).
