Another vote for Stewarts. They gave me the complete set of DVDs when I boughtsome of their stuff. Just finished covering the tail feathers (wings after Brodhead)and the process is much less harmful to whatever brain cells I have left.A lifelong investment in the German and American brewing industry has leftsome still functioning and I need all I can get. My wife can do both the modifiedseine knot and the Staggerwing knot that Stewarts teaches and MUCH prefersthe Staggerwing. Both are certified. As an aside, Stewart System relies on a fabric to fabric bond so I took a coupleof pieces of 2 inch pinked fabricand glued them together with 1 inch overlap.2 square inches total bond area. I can't pull them apart. Stewart says thefabric will fail before the glue and I believe them.DaveRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Brodhead 2013

Well everyone, the dust (or mud) has settled and another Brodhead is behindus. It was a BIG one for me as it was the first time I got to fly up. After tenyears of tire-kicking and saying "this is the last time I DRIVE up", I cantell you it was truly a highlight of my life.As always I loved seeing familiar faces and many new ones and trulyappreciated the welcome and help offered and given. Had a great turnoutdespite crummy flying weather, BUT when we could fly, it was absolutelyGLORIOUS!After the nasty front came through on Friday, I took Marci up for an eveningflight and we both felt we were right out of the movie "Out of Africa". Thestorm could be seen in the east, glowing pink.. Saw a herd of deer in acornfield and flew formation with some biplanes and lots of Piets. The mostmemorable however, was turning around and seeing Andrew Kind in AlanRudolph's old Piet not more than forty feet next to me. He stayed there andmoved around me like a gnat while I tried not to move a muscle. Later itturned out he was trying to get me in his GO-PRO camera, which he succeededin doing. Hope to share that one soon.Gotta attend to business and decompress, then back to the hangar to cleanthe bugs and grass off RE-PIET, figure out why the battery isn't holding acharge and why the intercom puked out.I want to write a little article about my flight up and back. In the oldnewsletters, I used to occasionally come across an "Odyssey" type story andfound them very inspirational as I built and daydreamed about my turn.Douwe________________________________________________________________________________
