Hello good Piet-ple,My first batch of parts has been completed by "Applied Finishing." I now have anumber of COMPLETED parts. It nice to have some parts that are DONE - what aconcept...! (Another nice aspect of their work is that they placed plugs in allthe close-tolerance holes so the parts fit well after painting.)By having these parts professionally painted I save the $ and trouble of a paintbooth, air compressor, Binks gun, air lines, water traps, storing paint, cleaningbasins, etc.... Since I am building my Piet in a condo garage (actually two garages) I also avoidconcerns from my neighbors who I'm sure would not like the smell...!!!! I went to look at a Piet for sale in Ohio a year or two ago. Youcould see the toe out in them.I'm thinking toe out is BAD. This jives with what all the mechs at EAA's weeks hangar report. They've had torevamp the gear in a number of vintage planes, and say that they try to getthem straight, to a little bit of toe in. I've seen them make some pretty neat fixtures to ensure alignment. So, given this, the geometry of the attach fittings affect the toe at various amountsof strut extension or compression. So all the work in the world won'tmatter unless that part is right, as it changes dynamically.
