Wire wheels with brakes arepretty heavy, and a 19 inch wheel is a few pounds lighter and a bit lessdraggy.Most people using wire wheels modify a motorcycle wheel. Because motorcyclewheels are not designed to withstand side loading, most people build a widerhub, with six inches being fairly common.
