I am putting together a new set of wire wheels, going the route of hubs from KenPerkins being laced to aluminum alloy wheels by Buchanan's. I'm also not sure what "clincher"means. I know others have used the ribbed Avon M6 Speedmasters, for instance, they lookgreat on Jim Markle's build, but I like the look of the smooth tires. I'm sure this doesn't leave you with very much lefton the tire, but if you start with 6-ply tires, maybe there will be enoughin the body of the tire to give you a season or two of flying without the normalwear surfaces on your tires. It sounds like the price you may have to payfor the look of smooth tires. The only other place I've seen tires like thatwas on the old open-wheel Indy cars, but those would be much larger than whatyou're interested in.Too bad you don't have 6.00x6s... I could send you my tires after I wear the treadoff them.
