Pietenpol-List: G Loads, Others

"Jeffrey Wilcox" I've been reading through the archieves and finding reams of information(literally, as my cut and paste amounts to about 150 pages). Many thanks toall for the information. As an old 7AC and Taylor Titch pilot, I've been wondering about G loads onthe Piet. While I have no intention of entering an aerobatic competition ina Piet, or the Reno air races, I am prone to the occaisional loop, aileronor barrel roll. Now, the 7AC was a tube frame, 6G airplane, and the Titchwas +/- 9.9 G. Never got over 3.8 in either. I did several airshows in a1-23 sailplane, never pulled more than 3G in it. Question is, how many ofyou Piet flyers have flown a loop or roll? The loop is usually good forabout 3G on entry/exit, and (done right) either an aileron or barrel roll isjust a tad over 1G.Looking at my beautiful set of plans, the Piet seems to be good for about+6G/-3G - it is certainly a stout rascal with beautiful lines. Has anyonedone the computations and/or tried the manuevers? Not much mention in the past months about the Impoverished HomebuildersAssoc., or CHEAPEX - how are they doing? I definitely fit into thecategory!!!Regards and TIA - Craigo________________________________________________________________________________

The engine mount plates are sheared to an overall rectangle. Then stack the quantity together, weld two opposite unused corners, layout and drill the holes including holes for radii internal to the part, make all straight cuts, grind off the welded corners, and have quantity of matching parts. I' have made 3 1/2 ship sets of steel parts this way. Maybe this could be of use to someone. Doug Bryant Wichita, Ks________________________________________________________________________________
