Pietenpol-List: Help

I have a couple of questions... I seem to remember having readsomewhere that the wing strut spar fittings shown on the plans are shownwith an incorrect angle. I am building the one piece wing and again it seemsthat I read that the splice as indicated on the plans are shown incorrect. If so, how so? I guess if I didn't have a four car garage to work in, and had muchless room, I would have gone with the 3-piece wing and wouldn't have thesequestions. I KNOW you guys with the 3-piece wings don't have thesequestions...right???Gary________________________________________________________________________________

The improved aircamper plans supplementfrom Don Pietenpol has patterns for the lift strut spar fittings. Thenew angle can be found by using the same center hole and rotating apattern to line up with the lift strut. (somewhre around 30 degrees) Ithink mine was about 32 because of my lengthened cabane struts.Steve e________________________________________________________________________________

You can get these valves from an industrial supply house at a reasonablecost. You might have to drill the handle for remote actuation.Phil Phillips They had the fuel shut off valve> mounted directly to the fuel tank outlet and it was actuated by a> push-pull throttle flex cable. Use a 3/8" valve and plumbing to your> Continental engine. Wag-Aero (They're certainly not cheap) sells these> valves.> > John Langston> Pipe Creek, TX> nle97(at)juno.com________________________________________________________________________________

Corky,What i did was to exit the fuel from the rear bottomof the tank , go througha 90 deg elbow, then through a ball valve. Modified the flat handle of theball valve to take a control cable end, and hooked it up to a control cablethat I got from AS&S. Has a red knob, and a "detent" so it won't vibrateclosed. (sounds like a rachet when you pull it). Ran that outside thecockpit ply,and under fabric, then back into the rear side wall , so it's bymy right hand just below the inst . panel. Seems to operate fine.walt---------------------------------------------------------- Original Message -----

Larry,On our wing tips we have only used fittings on one side of the spar. One onthe aftside of the front spar and one on the fwd side of the aft spar. Went aheadand puta small tab fitting at the aileron stub (?) spar and one on the aileron atthe wing tip too.Dang it, there goes more weight on the plane.I figure that one fitting per spar should take it up to about mach .89 orso... just kidding.BTW, the leading edge will be going on the wing in the next day or so.Getting closer.Rodger ChildsPiet in progress________________________________________________________________________________Date: Sun, 28 Jan 2001 21:52:25 -0600Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Help

Subject: Pietenpol-List: HelpPieters,I would like some help from you in locating 2 coils for Bendix Magnetos SFR-4, 10-19350-3. Seems these are like chicken teeth. I ordered a couple from ASS, new old stock and found them unservicable. Maybe if you would look at S n F I would appreciate it very much. If those around Wichita know of a source I would like to know it. Thanks in advance.
