Just wanted to pass along a good hint from my friend/AP. I was asking aboutpainting over rusty metal and the preparations needed. He told me aboutPOR-15 , which I had never heard of.Apparently it's a paint that covers rust( normally any rust has to becompletely sandblasted away or it will bubble through the paint in time).and bonds with it to stop the rust completely.He said that he actually painted a circle on a rusty floor pan off of a carand put it in the backyard. In time the pan fell apart around the circle,and the rust did not even crawl under the edge of the paint.The good use for homebuilders is that it withstands temps. up to 1400F,perfect for exhaust pipes.
