Pietenpol-List: Hidden Agenda

I guess I don't see the hidden agenda. I just returned from nine days in Oshkosh and could have stayed a lot more. I think EAA is trying to cover most of the bases. What about Sport Pilot? Justbecause you may have already lost your medical and can't get a SP license withoutjumping through a lot of medical hoops is probably disappointing to some especiallythose of you who are in that very situation. But that change was madeat the FAA. Can you imagine flying with someone who may have another medicalemergency at any time. I don't want to be with them or near their flight path.Let's prove that we are worthy of the license rather than all being grand fatheredin with a valid drivers license. My mother has one too but I sure as heckdon't want to ride with her.You have to agree that Sport Pilot will make flying a lot easier for the masses. Those with fat ultralights or a light Cub, Champ, or T-craft or a homebuiltthat fits the criteria. If you think EAA has missed the boat for grass roots aviation in their publications, then you are reading the wrong one. Take a look at Sport Pilot that usedto be Experimenter magazine. There is gobs of great grassroots flying in there.Just my 2 centsLeroy B ________________________________________________________________________________

Don't forget about my medicalless buddy who drove 60 kids on a school bus everydaywith nine bypasses on his heart yet could not fly a 1200 lb airplane by himself....I say if a medical has been denied in the past then the guy can still fly but withno passengers. He would be LESS of a risk then than he would if he drovea car on public highways...Chris ----- Original Message -----

The really Ironic or moronic part of this is he could be a 20,000 hour pilot, losehis medical and never be able to fly again. Yet if he had never had a medicalhe could go get a little dual, pass a check ride and be set to go.Jim Dallas ----- Original Message -----

Mark,I also told the feds in one of my many coments that they are discriminatingagainst people who have chosen NOT to have a drivers license. This iscommon for many people in NYC where owing and driving a car is not an optionbut yet taking a train ride to the countryside and a cab to the smallairport is.Not to mention that I might not want my kid to drive when he is 16 but yet Imight want him to fly.Chris----- Original Message -----

Hi AllWe just got back home and I'm wading thru the messages. One small correction hereChris. A School Bus driver along with all commercial truck drivers has topass a physical similar to the 3rd class FAA every two years. In addition drivershave to be in a pool to be randomly selected for drug and alcholol testingat any time while employed. Drivers also have to undergo periodic US DOT trainingand are subject to work hours limits similar to commercial pilots.Dick ----- Original Message -----
