Pietenpol-List: Bending Allowances

reportGot a question about bending allowances. Do the drawings of thefittings that need to be bent already take into account bendingallowances or do I need to calculate them and adjust the dimensions ofthe drawings accordingly. Also, is there a spacer of some sort between the cabane fitting and thespar where the fitting does not overlap the spar butt joint strap andthe pulley bracket? If so, what is it?Thanks in advance.Jake Crause________________________________________________________________________________

In my opinion the drawings do not include bend allowances. Also, lots of peoplehave said to make the fitting's a tad bit longer (so they stick out more). I guess it's hard to get the bolts in once the plane is finished.Chris TracySacramento, Ca ----- Original Message -----

reportTracy thanks for the reply. After looking at the plans a bit closerand thinking about it a bit longer, I see that you are right. I do planon adding about 1/2 inch to some of the fittings where it looks like itmight be a close fit getting the bolt into the hole due to fabric orother obstructions. Is a 1/2 inch appropriate in most cases anyone? Thanks.Jake-----Original Message-----
