HI folks. I'm rather new to the site and still haven't got it allfigured out. For instance, when a message like the one I am replying tomentions "here's a photo" but there is no corresponding link - how doyou go about finding it?Don't want to bore you with long-winded introductions but looks likeyou're in for a short one anyway. I have a son (Matthew Stinemetze) whoworks for Burt Rutan out in Mojave, CA. He was the lead engineer duringthe construction phase of SpaceShipOne and then got to fly on the mothership White Knight as flight engineer many times including the twoof the X-Prize cash as well. He's only 28 - THAT'S NOT FAIR!Anyway, I decided that my kids shouldn't have all the fun so I took thatevent as a challenge to try a couple of fun things myself. Afterdreaming flying my whole live (he came by it honestly, he had to livewith books, models, etc. etc., etc. during his childhood) I have decidedto build an Air Camper in my workshop. It's going to be powered by aCorvair 110 HP engine which is already torn down and under way, andpulled by a hand-carved prop (been through Al Schubert's manual aboutthree times and pretty close to getting started.) I have alreadycollected manuals from William Wynne (The Corvair Authority), AlSchubert (the propeller guy), various GM manuals, catalogues fromAircraft Spruce and Sporty's, and plans from the Pietenpol family. OhYeah, somewhere in there I've got to get a pilot's license too.Think that's too much to bite off for a 54-year old "pleasantly plump"guy from McPherson? Maybe I should just change by e-mail moniker toMcIdiot? Kudos to the webmaster for a great site for much-needed information.________________________________________________________________________________

Tom,Welcome to the club. Once you get the "itch" to build, it never goes away. Onlycure for the "itch" is to scratch it out in the work shop on a daily basis. I got the "itch" in 1973 and the Pietenpol is the third case so far. Whenit is done, who knows? Alex S.-------------- Original message -------------- HI folks. Galen:Thanks for the reply. I am really getting excited about moving thisproject along. Actually, my enthusiasm somewhat exceeds my finances butthat's nothing new. There's no way that I could turn down an offer of building photos. I'vegot a good, fast connection so anything you could send would beappreciated. I've already been advised to cover my own project with alot of photos for the builder's log so maybe I can send some back one ofthese days.TomFifty-four certainly isn't to old to start a project. I'm 56 and this is my first project too. I love it and you will too. You will find this site very helpful so stay tuned in. The sooner you get started on your project the better. Then do some work on it everyday and before you know it, the thing starts looking like an airplane! So get started and have some fun. If you want some building pics, just let me know and I will email you some. Doc________________________________________________________________________________
