Pietenpol-List: I've finally started building something that will fly

Hi all,I've been lurking in the background on this list for a few months now while studyingmy plans, practicing my woodworking skills and getting my shop ready. Itsa long story but I built an entire fuselage mock-up with some lumber yard douglasfir that I bought before I really knew what the recommendations were asfar as grain slope, etc. It didn't take all that long and I learned a lot ofthings I'll do differently when I get the right materials. I just started last weekend making wing ribs with wood (douglas fir) that meetsmy expectations and I'm building a rib nearly every day. After cutting all theparts out in advance I can now glue and nail one up in about an hour. I'veposted my progress so far at mykitplanes at the following link. I've posteda few pictures there as well.I've learned a lot just lurking in the background and from searching the archives. There are three other Piets under construction within 40 miles of me so Ihave lots of local sources of information too. Here is my linkhttp://www.mykitplane.com/Planes/buildLogRepor ... __________

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Safety? Fiberglass gas tanks & Static ElectricityI'm carefully listening to this one...I always wear safety glasses when re-fueling, and I always assume some static discharge is going to occur, so I touch everything to ground, whenever possible.Gives me the Hiebie Jiebies every time !!Chuck G.________________________________________________________________________________
