I received my Jeppesen FlightStar software last night and have been tinkering withit this morning. It is a lot more sophisticated than I'll ever need for flying LSA, but the abilityof this software to route around complicated airspace in an airplane not havingradios or a transponder certainly helps for planning a long cross-countryflight in an antique airplane. This would have been great for Chuck Gantzer's flight last year around the country, and if anybody is in need of something that has a lot of flexibilty for flyingin the LSA environment, this looks like a really good tool, especially sinceit can be coupled with a GPS on your laptop through a USB port. I haven'ttried using this with my Microsoft GPS yet but will in a week or so. Now, ifI can just find a smaller laptop to haul in an Aircamper, I'll be in good shape.I paid $129.00 for this at MYPILOTSTORE.COM (I got free shipping) and so far, I'mvery pleased with the purchase. They shipped it fast.In order to update the software, you'll have to pay for an update occasionally.I think this can be done on a per-need basis or monthly or annually through Jeppesen. The phone help at Jeppesen was very good when I contacted them this morningfor assistance.Sterling5TA6San Antonio Sectional________________________________________________________________________________Date: Fri, 2 Dec 2005 09:53:11 -0800 (PST)
