Hi again DouweStits is currently working on a special order for my new project. I asked themfor Poly Brush and Poly Tone with a Mahogany stain added along with UV filter. That will be my finished surface. I don't know what brand of stain they areusing, but you could try a test sample with wood stain.Dick N. ----- Original Message -----

I know Mr. Pietenpol built using Western Hemlock, but the drawings are pretty specificabout where to use pine. (like the nose block on your ribs).I think the Sky Scout uses 1/4 x 1/4 ribs. Better ask around some more. Rememberto compare rib spacing when comparing Piet's with Junior Aces or other aircraft.--------Phil MillerPietenVairAltadena, CARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: tint for dope?

For model airplanes, we use RIT dye disolved in thinner, then add the dope. Thecolor that comes out is amazing. Reds, blues, greens, are all quite brilliant- if that's what your looking for. Put it on the structure underneath, anduse clear dope on the coverin and you get color coded structure under a clearcovering. Looks good on antique models. I've never used it with epoxy though, and I intendto seal my Piet with epoxy as Poly-Fiber recommends.--------Phil MillerPietenVairAltadena, CARead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________
