Hi Guy's,First time poster here. My name is Dave and I'm near jacksonville,Florida. I've been considering a Piet for quite sometime now mainlybecause I'm the "nostalgic" type and I want to *build* vs. "assemble" myown airplane...oh yeah...it's a two seater so I have the family's*blessing*.I intend to make some minor changes... nothing radical. I'm a pretty bigboy. I'm just looking for a tad more room in the rear seat mainly...butI wont go into that at this time.I did however, Find the"Interesting trim" thread...well, interesting. Iwould like to throw an idea on the table for everyone's considerationand if you wish, comment. What would you think of dual trim tabs, one oneach elevator half ? I'm refering to a very simple single "bowden cable"type arangement with seperate levers in the cockpit to control each trimtab. I'm wondering if in addition to longitudinal trim, a controlled"rolling moment" may be induced by the seperate trim tabs that mightpickup a heavy wing or perhaps a out of rig rudder? Could the tabpositions be noted and adjustments to the rigging (All axis's) be madeto have a hands off airplane in cruise? Once the aircraft is rigged toits own "groove" would the tabs be just that much more efficient? Couldthe airplane be trimmed to fly hands off in all flight modes andairspeeds.I like a airplane that flies hands off once you have it setup. Theairplanes seem to like it too :-) The less I *bother* them...the betterthey fly.Anyway...what do you think? Is this too far out in left field?Comments welcomeDaveDown in Florida ----- Original Message -----

DaveOthers have probably made the changes you are thinking about. Get intothe archive section of the list and type in some key words like (Cockpitdoor) (widen fuselage) (fuselage step) or whatever. It can give you alot of answers before you know what all the questions are.I suspect that a bit of the discussion on trim recently was bouncingideas, rather lightly, on trim. You might want trim if you are runninga nose tank. However, I use a 13 gal wing tank with 4 gal reserve inthe nose. I have absolutly no need for a trim tab. The Piet flys almosthands off at normal cruise. To climb, go to 2100 with the A-65. tocruise level hold 2000-2050. To decend reduce to 1900. It is a beautiful flying machine. Pure simplicity.Dick N. ----- Original Message -----
