Hello to all:I'm the new owner of N920Y built by Don Hicks in Alabama. And I have a question to all that have Model A engines. What is your starting procedure, for I'm having a little problem when it comes to starting this engine. I do thank you for your time.Chet HartleyHolts Summit, MO________________________________________________________________________________

Welcome ChetCongradulations! I also worked with Don at Sun n Fun, he was a great guy and meticulous in his building. The next time you watch the movie "PT109" look for him as one of the PT boat crew in the movie. I don't know which one, but I've heard the stories more than once. He also served on a PT boat in WWII.Sorry, I can't help with the Ford question though.Dick N. ----- Original Message -----

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: New Piet ownerGene, what's the difference in a GN-1 and a regular old air camper? That's awesome work by the way! Did you have to steam those lower longerons in the aft part of fuselage to get the bend in them? Thanks!Boyce________________________________________________________________________________

Hi Gene,Your GN-1 looks great. Are you going to add the long gussets on the side and bottomof the lower longerons aft of the pilot pit? They were not on the Flyer andglider plans but are on the 34 improved plans. Here is a picture of my GN-1, we call it Felix.Skip Gaddcsfog(at)earthlink.net________________________________________________________________________________

Thanks Greg,I will let you know when I fly it. I have to reinstall the front rudder peddlesand stick, and aileron gap seals, also want to install a fuel shutoff. Thereis a CFI at the field with a cub and allot of tail dragger time. The plan is forhim to fly it after I get everything right. Then he will check me out in it.I get to work on it about an hour a day, after working on the house all day,so the progress is slow.Skip----- Very nice, Skip.We are awaiting a flight report......Greg Cardinal________________________________________________________________________________Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2006 08:29:24 -0500 (GMT-05:00)

You are really close to me, as I live in St.Louis, MO and drive to Columbiato visit my youngest son about once a month at Mizzou. Do you keep it atFulton, slo and go, Jeff City, or where? There was at one time an old polishfellow who built a Stits Playmate and flew from a grass strip just southfrom Jeff city, due east of the big brick house on the hill about 4 milessouth on hiway 54. Can't remember his name, was president of the EAA chapterthere in Jeff City for several years. Was a construction supervisor withsome large company. Anyway he had an east west grass strip that slopeddownhill to the west. We lived at the lake of the ozarks for 18 yrs and about 8-9 yrs ago gotfed up with it and moved to the city, so I am familiar with the area. I ambuilding a Piet, and would really like to come and check yours out sometime.Dennis Engelkenjohn________________________________________________________________________________
