Doug, Go to http://www.sky-tek.com/struts.html for the website for these. They do look great, and the price is good too. I think I remember that Jack P and maybe Michael C had aluminum lift struts on their Piets. Does anyone have a source for these? Or details for fabbing the ends? ( I don't think that "fabbing" is spelled right, but thats the best my spellcheck will do)Barry Davis________________________________________________________________________________Subject: RE: Pietenpol-List: Aluminum Lift StrutsDate: Thu, 28 Sep 2006 13:21:11 -0400

Subject: Re: Pietenpol-List: Aluminum Lift StrutsHi,I too have installed the Carlson/Sky-Tek aluminum struts.I requested that Carlson send me a copy of the strut end detail as it was used on their 'Sparrow' design. It uses square aluminum bar stock, bored and slotted to attach to the end fittings. They were most helpful in providing the requested information.Luo Larsen ( in slightly cooler central Florida)P.S. Just finished fabricating the 'nose cone" for my A powered Piet.________________________________________________________________________________

Hi Lou...I've looked seriously at the Carlson struts but couldn't imagine if the larger size stuts would "look" too big on the Piet. Do they look okay as compared to the size the plans call for. I had thought about running the smaller size on all four. Does anyone out there know what size Larry Williams used on his?...Thanks Ed G. ----- Original Message -----

Chuck's right. I used a router to remove the entire plywood side. Once you have the depth set it's quite easy. Scarfing in a new longeron was more of a chore.Jim Malley ----- Original Message -----
