It is a boxspar with top and bottom spar caps, a plywood shear face, and filler piecesat the tip, root, and lift strut attach points as well as having vertical stiffenersalong the length of it. The beauty of it is that it can be built at muchlower cost than solid or routed spars, using shorter pieces of wood.
