Group, finally found the time to add a ruff draft of my wood gear construction methods to my website. I was typing fast so forgive the mistakes. Also, add some pictures people have sent me.Still need more construction and finished pictures. So send them in if you want.Chris TracySacramento, CaWebsite at http://www.Westcoastpiet.com________________________________________________________________________________

Just for the sake of discussion (and since I am using laminated Hickory), Idon't see where there is a need to be concerned about the flexible strengthof spruce vs the brittle strength of ash. It appears to me that the gear iswell braced with wires, transferring virtually all the load to compressiononly. Where is the need for flex? Certainly there is weight penalty for ash or hickory. The same would applyto the cabanes and wing struts.Gary BootheCool, Ca.PietenpolWW Corvair ConversionTail done, working on fuselage(11 ribs down.)-----Original Message-----
