Oscar looks like you fixed the thing with the extra C's alright.I was consideringwhether to do anything with the thrust on my mount-of course if your's is fora real Piet it would no doubt be different in fit than a GN-1 anyway.I knowD.J. said he added some angle of attack to the wing if I remember right so maybethat will allow it to fly more level and the engine also will be good likehe built it.but anyway-just doing some brain-storming.thanks.RaymondRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Parts List

The true horsepower of all Lycomings and Continentalsis 20% less than rated right from the factory and it getsless as the engine wears. The A weighs 244 lb dry. Add water, radiator and hoses. Now it weighs 260 or more, about the same as the O-290I've got.The larger engine isn't there to give you more speed, that'sdictated by the airframe. It's there to get you off theground sooner. There will be times that's a good thing.Remember the list of useless things in aviation.Add to that the horsepower you don't have. :-)Just make sure you understand the tradeoffs.Clif, workin on firewall and engine mount.----- Original Message -----

Mark,Hope I caught you in time, just saw your post today. Here's a copy of the itemized quote from AS&S ( at 1998 prices.)They said they based it on the last sheet from a private builder. The list was right on for me. I built long fuselage three piece wingThe one list from the builder has hand written notes by me to figure out what everything was when I inventoried it all.walt evansNX140DL----- Original Message -----

Darn... the image just isn't coming through. I got the first three on the originalpost, but "walt_112" does not display at all on either attempt. I'm assuming that there is important info on that particular page, so I would liketo see it. Any chance you can e-mail it to me directly? If so, please sendit to k5yac-at-cox-dot-net.Thanks!--------MarkRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: RE: Pietenpol-List: Re: Parts ListDate: Mon, 25 May 2009 14:07:56 -0400

Larry,Unless you've got a really long bed pickup, I think you'll need a rack ontop such as you would use to carry a canoe. The three piece wing spars are13 feet long each, and the longerons are over 16'. You'll need at least one4' x 8' sheet of plywood, probably more.Think about it - you'll be driving 24 hours round trip in a truck that willget maybe 15 - 20 mpg. Gas alone will cost you $160 to $200 for the roundtrip. Unless you've got another reason to drive a truck to Atlanta, I'dseriously look into having a trucking company ship it. See if you can shoparound on rates - they are highly variable. Now, if you get a trucking company to ship it, you will have to go pick itup at their dock or pay a lot for them to deliver it to your door. It isworth if for you to pick it up at their dock, but I doubt if it's worth itto drive all the way from Dallas to Atlanta to save $150 in shippingcharges.Jack PhillipsNX899JPRaleigh, NC-----Original Message-----

With a pickup and a rack anything is possible.Where there is a will there is a way.Just remember any sarran wrap goes from back to front and not the other way.Admitedly my ride was only about 5 hrs with this rig.Michael in Maine----- Original Message -----

Yeah, I am hereby enlightened. That all makes sense to me. I guess it's betterto just wait out the delivery time and let the pro's (UPS Ground) do the shipping..Thanks for the input (reality check)..LarryRead this topic online here:http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... __________

> Subject: Pietenpol-List: Buckeye Piets and Pietple>>> For the Ohio Piets and the Ohio Pietple, Barber Airport is having theirannual Auto Engine Conversion Fly-in on June 5,6,and7. I talked to ForrestBarber and he said he is also listing it as including Pietenpols. Thereare two Piets hangared there and will be there for the fly-in. They areFrank Pavliga's Sky Gypsy and Allen Rudolph's 1934-ish Piet that Frank justacquired. Both of these are a real treat to see. I'm planning to fly mineover. Mike, Skip, Shad, and any others, it sure would be cool to have anice Pietenpol turn out. Any of you guys up for a little gathering?>> For those of you that know some of the familiar faces that have attendedBrodhead over the years, I heard some sad news yesterday. Will Graff, fromWadsworth, Ohio passed away a couple of weeks ago. I, like many others, enjoyed many Brodhead afternoons sitting on the grass in the shade talkingwith him and enjoying his Piet. He'll be missed.>> Don Emch> NX899DE>>> Read this topic online here:>> http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.p ... ___Subject: Pietenpol-List: Re: Parts List
